Hey all,

Firstly thanks for all the many favs on my recent Jesikah Maximus image! I'm really pleased with how she turned out & I'll be doing a lot more pin-ups like her in the very near future.

Please understand if I can't leave a thank you message on everyone's page, I try to thank people for favs & watches as much as possible, but sometimes I do miss people. Just know that each and every fav & watch is appreciated, and gives me the inspiration to create new images. I still get a thrill when I see that someone has fav'd my work or chosen to watch me!

Now, down to the underlying reason for writing this journal. I wanted to officially let you all know that I'm no longer accepting commission requests of any kind. This is because I was really unacceptably slow in getting them done, and it really wasn't fair to keep people waiting! So please don't be offended if you ask for a commission and I have to graciously refuse.

I'd rather stop taking requests completely than annoy people by making them wait, and I certainly did make 'em wait, as some people were on my commission list for over a year!

If I decide to start taking requests again, I'll put up a journal entry to let you all know.

Anyways thanks to all of you for your continued support & understanding. I can only promise that things are going to get better & better

Apologies if you're one of the people on my list waiting for a commission. No, I haven't forgotten about you! I realise I've kept you waiting a very long time, and I will do my damndest to get back to my commissions shortly.

On the plus side I feel my artwork is improving all the time, so the longer you wait the better your commission will be!! Ha..ha.. how's that for looking on the bright side??

If you're on my list and you'd like to cancel feel free to drop me a note. If you're not on the list, want to commission me (and you don't mind the wait), then note me too.

How do I commission you?

I currently charge $30 for a fully coloured image.

Send me a note (via your devart account) or an e-mail to jon.moss@lithiummelange.com with details of the subject you want me to draw. Include any other details or preferences such as pose, clothing etc. Please also include links to any reference images, if available.

Ok I've done that, what now?

1) I'll add requests to my list in the order I receive them and post the list to my journal. I'll be working through commissions in order, so if there's two people ahead of you in the list then you'll have to wait patiently. No queue jumping will be allowed.

2) When I get down to your name I'll contact you to let you know I'm starting your picture. I'll draw up a couple of rough sketches & send them your way. You’ll need to let me know which you prefer, and from there I’ll draw up the final pencils.

3) If you approve of the final pencils, I will then ask you to forward the payment ($30) via my paypal account. I will not progress any further with your commission (ink/colour stages) until payment is received.

4) When the inks & colours are complete I will send them to you for final approval.



So what exactly do I get for my hard earned $30??!!

In return for your valued custom, you’ll receive a download link to the following files;

- JPEG & PNG hi-res copies of the finished colours ( usually 150 – 250dpi )
- JPEG & PNG hi-res copies of the finished inks ( usually 150 - 250dpi )
- My eternal gratitude (no extra cost)



The all important guidelines

1) Please look through my gallery to see the kind of thing I do. I mainly draw single figure pin-up style girls, rarely group shots or guys and very, very rarely do animals, furries etc. So don’t ask me to draw Captain America fighting Akira while eyeing up Jill Valentine from Resident Evil!

That’s not to say I won’t attempt anything new, but try to keep your requests in line with my usual output.

2) I hold the right to refuse any request if it is not something I wish to draw, or depicts something I don't agree with. If I decide not to accept your request, then you will accept my decision as final.

3) Please do not send me e-mails, notes etc chasing me up for progress reports every couple of days/weeks. Once I’ve notified you that you’re on my list then I’ll contact you when I reach your name, and probably several times as I progress with the commission.

You will be hiring my services to draw a picture for you and that's it. You have not purchased my time beyond that and I will not be at your service 24/7.

4) If you do not like the final pencils then you are free to withhold payment and I will end our dealings amicably.

However as I work digitally, things can always be amended during the inking/colouring stage, and I will contact you as the image progresses so you can point out anything you would like to be changed.

Ok guys, following the positive feedback from my recent poll I've decided to start taking pin-up commissions. However, after looking around Deviantart for similar commission charges I've decided to raise the price to $30.00. I still think this is a very good deal, as I often spend over two weeks working on an image.

So, if you're still interested & want to hire me to draw a pin-up girl for you that's great. However, please see the guidelines at the bottom of this journal before you request a commission.

Apologies for not leaving many (any??) comments recently. I realise I've become very internal, not just on deviantART but in real life also. Alas, I have no defence your honour. I've just been concentrating on my own artwork and trying to avoid looking at too much other work.

Trouble is I get distracted easily. Sounds silly, but if I see some artwork I love things usually follow a simple three point process;

THOUGHT 1 - OMG!! Look at that amazing pin-up girlie by (insert fav artist here), I LOVE the linework! The colours are GORGEOUS!! That's exactly how I want my stuff to look! I would give anything to be able to draw like that!!

THOUGHT 2 - Right I'm going to abandon everything I'm working on, and devote the next couple of weeks to try & draw like (insert fav artist here)!!

AFTER TWO WEEKS OR SO - Damn!! I can't draw like (insert fav artist here) to save my life! It just feels all wrong! I've tried & tried but my girls actually look worse than if I'd drawn them in my "normal" style. That's it, I'm just going back drawing girls how I've always drawn them, at least that feels comfortable for me.

Therfore I often find I get more done if I don't look too much at other people's stuff. Which actually sounds really bad. I've unknowingly turned into a a lazy pimp, which is not even half as fun as it sounds.

So it's time to I kicked my ass into gear! I've just taken out a 1 year subscription and will be making more of an effort to leave comments & look at all the great work produced by the artists in my watchlist.

Apologies for being a crappy devart buddy guys. I hope to make amends..
